In 2013 I, Jaco Grobler, and André du Plessis, decided to put our shared passion for working with wood together to form a company, today known as Inside Out. A third partner, Wayne Dalton, who took care of the financial side of the business, has since left the company to pursue other interests.

The concept for Inside Out was born years before when I worked for André. We installed kitchen cabinets and laminated flooring. In my spare time, I made ornamental wooden garden furniture and bird feeders. Later, we progressed to making furniture.

In 2013 we formed the company, Inside Out, and found premises with a showroom, a workshop and offices in the Marais industrial area, Vredenburg.

I left Inside Out in 2019 and formed Grey Owl Kitchen Studio. Grey Owl Kitchen Studio moved office to Langebaan in 2020, and finally to Vredenburg in 2021, from where I currently operate. I handle all general project management,  and with my team I make sure that cabinets are installed to perfection and according to customer specification, giving utmost attention to fine detail.  My daughter, Chanel Smit, Joined me in 2021 as my excellent designer.

 

Together, myself and Chanel pride ourselves in thinking out of the box, coming up with surprising solutions to address clients’ needs. One thing is for certain, Grey Owl Kitchen Studio are constantly evolving, trying out new ideas, and keeping up with the latest trends.
